I just stumbled upon one of the sweetest ideas ever for the ’something blue’ part of my wedding attire:
Hat tip to Tales of a Female Husband (great find! you rock!!) who notes:
This bride had her attendants write wishes on her shoe as her “something blue.” A tradition I’ve heard says that the gal whose name rubs off first is the first to marry next.
This is by FAR one of the cutest ideas I’ve seen. I mean, what an amazing way to make make your friends a part of your special day and show them how much they mean to you! Since none of my three bridesmaids are married, it would be fun to test it out and see if it comes true. (Though it would still be sweet even if they were married.)
Reading about this got me wondering where the whole ’something blue’ thing came from, anyway. In case you’re interested, here’s what I found. Interestingly, it dates back to the Victorian era:
” [...] blue has been connected to weddings for centuries. In ancient Rome, brides wore blue to symbolize love, modesty, and fidelity. Christianity has long dressed the Virgin Mary in blue, so purity was associated with the color. Before the late 19th century, blue was a popular color for wedding gowns, as evidenced in proverbs like, “Marry in blue, lover be true.”" Source
How are you planning on incorporating ’something blue’ into your wedding day?

Keep up your efforts to find a good destination wedding photographer. Hubby actually found ours in Craigslist of all places (after the one I found suddenly backed out on us). Sounds random, but she was legit. And yes, she does travel (rather reasonably I might add.)
What a cute idea
Midnight blue is my main colour, so it will be everywhere! But the main bit n my person will be a blue ribbon hanging down my back from the halter neck of my ivory dress.
What a great idea! I don’t have a blue in my color scheme and I’ve been resisting the idea of a blue garter, as I’d like something I can easily show people and say, “See? Here’s the blue part.”
I only have one bridesmaid, but I have many female friends who are flying in, so I think I will carry my shoes around for a few days before the wedding and have all the girls sign them.
