In case you were wondering, the hunt for the purple shoe continues. I’m not gonna lie–I still think longingly about the blessedly beautiful Ferragamos sometimes (ok fine, oft times… and they’re now on “sale” for $298… jeepers!).
But you’ll be glad to know I’ve come to my senses and realized that it was a classic case of getting caught up in the bridal hoopla hype and/or that I am the sufferer of an intense designer-shoe-photography-fetish. Er, probably both, actually.
Last week I experienced a brief moment of hope when I spied these purple babies at Feet First* and slapped down the credit card so I could try them at home:

(I know, you’re staring at my freakishly long second toe, right? I wish I could say it’s the camera angle but unfortunately… um…no. It’s just weird.)
The shoe is cute but it was definitely an impulse buy and I know why it happened: I am getting desperate.
One thing I realized after the Ferragamo episode was that although designer shoes are be-yew-ti-ful, unless I’d wear them again (and again… and again…) I really can’t justify it.
And now I’ve learned my second lesson: in any other situation, peep-toe pumps would be totally and completely ADORABLE. However, I think that having a destination wedding means I have to play by a slightly different set of rules.
Why, oh why is it so impossible, in this supposedly enlightened age, to find strappy lilac shoes? AUGHHHH!!!!
As for the above, I pictured wearing these in 30+ degree weather, and realized… I think I’d feel like a dork. They’re just too ‘warmish’ for a wedding in the Caribbean (i.e. too covered up) and, what’s more, too dark (i.e. a more fall or winterish hue).
Sigh. It’s really too bad. These are the closest I’ve come to finding shoes that are super comfy and just the right height. But I returned them… the same day I returned those purple Jacob bridesmaid dresses. (How depressing.)
Oh god.
Gasp. Did I do the right thing?
Now that I’m looking at these pictures again I’m second guessing myself… I talked myself out of it but maybe, just maybe, these shoes really would be ok??
Ack! Am I going crazy???…
* By the way, if you love these shoes and think they’d work for you, FYI they’re currently on sale – in both purple and black satin – so snap them up!

They are *very* cute, but if they don’t feel right, they’re not right.
I’m sure the right pair is out there.
I saw these and immediately thought of you: http://www.heels.com/womens-shoes/krystal-heel-purple.html
Aw, thanks N, you are so sweet to think of me!! In my excruciatingly exhaustive search, I actually did come across those. I loveloveLOVE the heart on the sole… have you ever seen anything cuter in your life?!! Sadly, I wouldn’t be teetering very far on those suckers… too high for me.
Keep ‘em coming though… ! Hee hee.
Yeah, they look kind of scary. Nothing ruins a wedding like a tumbling bride. Twisted ankles and broken necks are such a buzz kill.
Check out DSW.com and type in purple satin shoes. They have a couple very cute styles including Caparros which are not quite 3 inches so they are comfy.. Also, check out the purple satin Charles David shoe with the Rose on them on 6pm.com!!
@Tyler – Great sites!! I actually went to DSW this weekend but didn’t see anything remotely exciting. However, it never occurred to me to check their website. The Maxstudio Sunset Slingbacks would be purrrfect… if only they weren’t so high. Sigh. (that rhyme was a fluke, I swear). If the Loubs that are on their way to me don’t fit (KNOCK ON WOOD!) then I will have to come back to these websites. Thanks so much for the tip!!
Women with a longer second toe are suppose to be very senscious and very domineering & hot-tempered in a desirable sort of way. Don’t know if that’s true or just a myth but the one woman that I briefly dated who had a longer second toe definitely fit that description.
Hi, I’m getting married this September and those purple peeptoe shoes are exactly what I am looking for! Do you happen to recall the brand?
I’m getting married in November and love the purple shoes from Feet First. I couldn’t find them on the website, but was wondering if you could remember the brand so that I might find them somewhere else?
Hello, Do you know if these shoes are still available? I love them.
Mimi
Hi ladies. The brand of these shoes is ‘Feet First’, same name as the store. I personally haven’t seen them in the store for awhile now (they are from summer 2008) but not sure if that means they’re not available anymore. Hope that helps!
I am a purple passion woman myself and I’ve been having a similar hunt for my perfect pair of purple wedding shoes. I’ve decided to pick a white satin shoe that I like and that is comfortable and have them dyed to my exact color specification! I found several specialty places that do custom dying and then there are a ton of online resources, too.
The selection of dyable shoes is MUCH larger! I am almost certain you could meet comfort, style, heel height, and shade of purple this way!
