I got engaged on October 6, 2007 and it was a total and utter surprise. Sure, we’d been together for 4+ years and my dad had started dropping not-so-subtle hints ever since we moved to Vancouver… and (DUM DUM DUM…) moved in together. So when it happened, it was pretty amazing. Then it got crazy.
Now, I’m not one for unnecessary drama of the female kind.
But all of a sudden, all these details started getting the better of me.
My future husband is THE best husband one could ask for. But such a pillar of perfection must have its Achilles heel; for him it is his patience - which at times runs short when it meets my sometimes-frivolous, oft-times-obsessive wedding-related conversations.
So this blog is an outlet for the endless wedding-themed monologues that go on in my head all day long. All hail The Internet. If threesomes were socially acceptable, I might marry It, too.
The fiance and I live in lovely Vancouver, Canada. We’re tying the knot on November 17, 2008 in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Hi! Thanks for posting so much interesting and helpful information, it is really great and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I just got engaged on may 15 and we are hoping for a destination wedding aswell. I requested information about a week ago from the RIU Macao in punta cana and have yet to hear back. Where are you getting married in punta cana? It’s been so hard to find a spot, I dont even know where to begin. However the riu macao seemed reasonable, didn’t have bad reviews but they have yet to respond! Any suggestions? May I ask the approximate cost you are spending on your wedding in DR? thank you for any information you could provide–I feel stuck!!!
Hi Christine! Welcome! I’m glad you find this helpful. I’m getting married at the Majestic Colonial in Punta Cana. Deciding on your resort and making travel arrangements with your agent is definitely THE hardest part… once you get that figured out, the worst is over (or, at least so it seems thus far). I would definitely love more information! I checked out the site of the hotel you are getting married and it’s beautiful! I still have not heard back from the two hotels I have submitted emails to in Punta Cana so any information/help/tips you have to offer would be undeniably appreciated!!
